PUMPS Mags, Rio s What do you like best???

If you read the thread I linked to above you will see that a 220v March pump went from a 2 amp draw to a 1 amp draw after throttling the discharge.

Yes it does save a measurable amount of power and increases the life of the pump.
 
I can't find the other guy that tested it.... Not like it matters anyways.... I see JohnPTCs results are more than conclusive.

If I'm understanding this correctly you should get the same effect if your return line diameter is slightly shrunk towards the end as well right?
 
i am using quite one, it works well in my sump # 2400gph but it is very loud...not quite like they advertise, but efficient and lots of gpm.
 
I vote Reeflow as well. But in smaller apps, Quiet Ones or Mags.

Whats the deal on the Reeflo (snapper) in respect to volume? My turbo sea 1090 is actually pretty loud! Its a Gen-x type fan cooled pump so the fan is the main source of noise.

I also have two Rios 2years that have been on and off and they haven't failed yet!
 
My rio has been working out fine too...but anyway about quiet one's how are they?
 
I'm looking into Reeflo but they don't have any submersible pumps. The Sump I'm getting doesn't have a hole for pluming. What should I do now?
 
You could drill the sump put a bulkhead and use an externail pump. If you need submersible pump I vote mag over rio. I have had both and the mags have lasted better...the mag plugs have a ground and the rios dont if that hasnt changed...and the mags have a threaded outflow to make it easy to plumb. Externial the reeflos are hard to beet from what I have read through the years. Low power consumptin and quiet. I had an iwki that ran for 9 years 24/7 but it was loud as a mofo. I am about to use a barracuda reeflo on my 240...
