Purigen is definatly worth the money.

Ewurm, if you are ever in DE, I will hook you up, don't worry.

If I am in Delaware, get me some Purigen, and a map. I was looking for the Amazon, and the f-ing map was crap. LOL

Haha:ROFL: I will try to come to Minnesota sometime since that has a better chance of happening than you coming to Delaware. Either way I would hook you up.:headbang2

If you come to MN, you have to see Underwater Adventures. Plenty to see here in MN.

its the whole "recharge" part that Im worried about. What would be better and where do I place it? I have a canister and an AC110...

I put my purigen in the AC70, on top of the stack. It's the highest flow area of the filter. Recharging is easy, no worries there.

isnt it like 50/50 water/bleach, then you have to make sure the bleach is rinsed out?

Didnt read through any of the Purigen threads so, does it have an expiration or is it always good after recharging?

Put it in the AC110. Recharging is easy. 50/50 bleach water solution in a little plastic cup overnight, rinse really well, add a capful of Prime, smell it and if it is good, put it back in the AC. If it smells bleachy, rinse and Prime it again. If it smells funny, it's the Prime.

Purigen apparently wears out over time. It is basically a porous plastic polymer, the waste attaches to the pores. DO NOT use slime coat products like Stress Coat, this clogs the pores. Over time, the pores will become clogged with normal use. I have had packs for 6 months, with none showing any signs of wearing out.

They say it is 8 recharges and then it is dead, but mine has gone more than that.

The stress coat products (and dechlorinators) that are amine based bind to chlorine during recharge and are absorbed into purigen. Once ya put it back in the tank it dumps chloramine into the water and will most likely kill your fish.

It's safe to use them in the tank, just not when recharging, ya need prime for that.

Stuff ya need to recharge is Prime, Bleach, and Neutral regulator/discus buffer.

Bleach will put the PH of purigen around 12, unless you're running a saltwater or other high PH setup the purigen can raise your PH after a recharge.

Rallys, is it still keeping the nitrates down? Also, do you recharge when it's completely exhausted or slightly brown?
