My guess is that it replaces nitrogenous compounds with chlorides. I dont know if this would be a problem or not. Presumably chlorides would become toxic at some point but I'm not sure what that would be. Anyone got any info on this?
Also I wonder if using it on a steady basis would it shut down your beneficial bacteria, since it removes nitrites and ammonia as well. This could leave you vulnerable in the event your Purigen beccomes saturated and you forget to recharge it.
