Top tank, same fish, same water, just without any phosguard, and the diatomaceous brown is in full bloom. Nitrates 30 ppm

This is really interesting, I kind of like the purple algae in a strange (if I have to have algae) way. Are the two tanks plumbed together? I think we talked about that on another thread but not sure.
Chris

The tanks are separated.
Update:
Algae growth today.

The purple algae is only growing on the right side. Where the return pump blows.

Nitrates are around 12ppm. I have added a ATS water fall scrubber. I have purple algae growing here also.
It is definitely a filliment type growth.20160601_180155.jpg
Holding out in the corner, the fish still graze on it daily.

The water fall scrubber has been up for only 2 weeks.
My fish feeder feeds too much, I would rather not argue about it, but most of is gets sucked out of the display and trapped in filter floss.
My display lights promote algae growth.
Two 45 watt 50/50 reefsun. One 6500k
This is the first algae scrubber I have used. So far nitrates are slowing and steadily going down.
I am afraid of water changes this time of year, poor tap water, from corn field run off.

I added a full dose of phosguard, as I am getting some brown algae overgrowth.
PH is 7.75 buffered with seashells, eggs, and baking soda.

The purple algae seems to grow best in areas with a lot of current.

Latest scrubber growth, lots of purple.

Did a 35% WC, and vacumed. The new habitat works great for ease of cleaning
