Well your in the arowana forum and I can tell you that the silver aro will need at least a footprint of 8'x30" but 8'x3' would be better with tankmates. Also the combo of aro and gar can end badly. For tank size and compatibility for gar you may want to ask the good folks in the gar forum. Two motoros may need even a bigger tank, check in the ray forum. Once you decide on a tank size you may want to post a thread in the DIY forum for help with your build.

Best thing is not to be lazy and do some searching and research alot of the knowledge for yourself. Cause IMO your base knowledge regarding any of this is very low.

Well I haven't got the Gar and I was already in the ray forums and a foot print of 8 by 3 is good according to a ray keeper for 2 motoros so I already did that, but if you don't think the Gar and aro will work out I'm not even going to bother getting a Gar maybe instead of a Gar another aro if not maybe another peacock bass

Is this a real type of arrowana this lfs has one that there selling for 40 dollars it has a slight purple tint but the tank its in isn't exactly lit up if anyone has ever heard of one or knows anything about let me know

With purple tinge? Probably it is the results of pellets feeding or carotene rich food feeding.
Purple is never a natural color for arowanas

Not knowing myself how big the gar geti can't help, but just do your self a favour go online and research the fish you intend on keeping the size they grow to, how easy can they move ie: how well can theyturn around and so on. Then think about the size they will be full grown and in your own head you should be able to work out how much room they would need to swim around in and still live a happy life. From what i've heard with most gars ya going to need to thinkabout a pond not a tank.

Gars and rays don't usually mix let alone gars and aros. You'll also need a wider tank for 2 rays especially you're planning motoros.

How wide would you recommend for just one motoro i was thinking about getting 2 so I could breed them but I might just get one, I know there max disc size in most situations is 30-36"

I doubt its been fed pellets he's in a tank with just Guppies so I'm guessing that's all he's been eating

if you want rays go with a 48" width or better. disc width is not your only thought with them. they also have a tail and need more room to swim side to side. look into a tank with just a front veiwing panel it will save you money. then you can make it bigger then the min. your fish will do much better in more then the min.

gars and rays don't mix well. i am one person that has has gars and aros mix on more then one trial. it has had some damage done on this round, but it isn't to bad(this time) i have seen some aros get ripped apart by gars. alot of people arn't able to mix gars and aros. alot depends on the sp. of gar and the size diff of them.

there is a thread in the gar section about tankmates and gars with alot of peoples exp. look at it. in general look at the stickies in all the sections of the fish you want, they will give you things like tank dim mins, tankmates and the sizes to mix....the list goes on.

One or two you would still need the 36" width possibly even wider for two or more. Because the length is set at 8 which is ample for more than 1 ray already it's only the width of the tank that determines how many rays you should keep. Motoros do max out at 30-36" disc, but rarely get that size in a regular household. Extreme examples of motoros reaching that size would be frank's rays that you can check out at www.freshwaterstingray.nl . Having said that, don't forget that the fish still has a long tail. A ray with a 24" disc could easy have a tail over 12" long meaning you have already hit your 36" width. And like I mentioned before, rays and gars usually doesn't end well. Hungry gars like to take nips at rays.

Alrite I'm not going to get a Gar then I don't want him injuring any of my fish and if I'm going to have to make my take that wide just for one I might as well get a male and female
