Milky Way Galaxy,
Is it simple as buying the engine and having a mechanic install it into the car you desire?

I'd love to know also - BUT I know that it would probably need to be compatible with the transmission and drivetrain. In other words - if you put a big engine in a Geo, the rest of the car would break, because it's not designed for that kind of power.

Some people do it this way but it will lead to problems, you have to make sure the transmission will work with the engine and do some work with the tranny too. But engine swaps aren't really worth it imo its just better to buy a different car, unless your making a race car. But either way a mechanic (trusted one might i add) should do it too make sure its done right. May I ask why you are asking this? Curiosity or do you have a project? Aren't you a high schooler (not in a rude insult way just as age reference) that wanted his aunties (or family members) white Mercedes?

Edit: "But engine swaps aren't really worth it imo its just better to buy a different car, unless your making a race car." because of cost. Sumos right labour and garage time are pricey and so is an engine so either way its suuuuuper expensive. More of a pride thing than a rational thing.

I'm no mechanic but I know it ain't cheap. If you bring to mechanic you'll be heavily charged for the labor plus depends on what cars and engine. I got cousins and nephew who are mechanics

My nephew put an integra engine in a civic years ago. Took him about a week in our garage but that's without all the proper equipment.

After the car was done it got stolen that week. He pretty much cried

I'm all about cars, it REALLY depends on what your planning on doing and what kind of support there is behind that. For instance all sorts of guys are into the honda scene. You can find the motors anywhere and anyone could buy new mounts and axles and swap whatever they want into their hatch. Even crazier things as long as there is enough people behind it isn't all that difficult one of my firsts was a mazda rx7 they come stock with a tiny ass 1.3L rotory but there are enough people with the desire to swap 3.8's, 5.0's LT's and LSXs that it isn't the most expensive thing to do either, slightly more complicated but far from impossible. Now if your hoping to put some lambo motor in your kia now your going to run into some problems.

What are you planning on doing? Damn near anything can be done if you have the funds.

^Edit *sorry didn't see an edit button*

No matter what a swapped car is a hybrid, it ain't stock anymore so don't expect it too not have any bugs.

I forgot about imports and engine swapping, i was just assuming with getting larger engines for manly muscle cars... I guess some people prefer small.................................... jk imports are cool sometimes!

Lol, I actually drive a vette now. I've always enjoyed both to some degree. Just no thank you on the FWD.

I was just wondering out of curiosity. Im still getting the mercades but it needs a new transmission might just be easier to get a new car since(parents call) its a 1999 might get a 2013 shelby mustang but im hoping for my mercades to pull through I have great plans for it.

I always had an idea of taking some dump car getting a lambo transmission and engine. And obviously get new tires, fix it up etc and enter some races ;)

long time ago, we had a friend who put porsche engines in our VW vans.
don't know mechanical stuff, but they had waaay more GO and were still easy on gas.
the guy did it all the time.
we have no interest in vans anymore, but I wonder if that'd work refurbishing old bugs :-]
