Putting a different car engine in another

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes it is possible and it can be done. It depends on the car though.

General rule of thumb, Chevy 350 and 4.3 are the most versatile engines. I love chevy blazers. My dream car is any pre 94 blazer with the most modern corvette engine and suspension. Ford 302 is $ for most older Ford vehicles. If you want a clear cut answer, tell us the vehicle and we can stop beating around the bush.

long time ago, we had a friend who put porsche engines in our VW vans.
don't know mechanical stuff, but they had waaay more GO and were still easy on gas.
the guy did it all the time.
we have no interest in vans anymore, but I wonder if that'd work refurbishing old bugs :-]

A baja bug with a lambo engine ...imagine that!!!

I was just wondering out of curiosity. Im still getting the mercades but it needs a new transmission might just be easier to get a new car since(parents call) its a 1999 might get a 2013 shelby mustang but im hoping for my mercades to pull through I have great plans for it.

I always had an idea of taking some dump car getting a lambo transmission and engine. And obviously get new tires, fix it up etc and enter some races ;)

Is this really the swap you were thinking of?? Im guessing not, so what IS the swap youre thinking about?

If you want something that costs alot, breaks alot and will never do what you think - get a Lambo.

VW/Porsche are the same company, and many things translate between the two very well (even old to new).

Common swaps are one thing... they've been fined tuned (no pun intended) over the years for race applications.
I'd avoid anything crazy. Not only do you need to worry about the new drive train physically fitting, you have a wiring nightmare - and in the US, you need to worry about meeting all the EPA pollution control regs to keep it street legal and be able to insure it.
