Python Faucet Adapter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have the aqueon version (had it for 2 months maybe) and its already broken in the same way.

I just superglued it the last time I did a WC so hopefully it'll stay good for a while longer. Now its just a bit more of a pain to get on & off the faucet adapter.

I've cracked one python and one aqueon.

On a related note, you know how you can turn the hose off from the opposite end of the python? The part you actually put in your tank? Don't do that when filling with hot water... I was cleaning out an empty tank the other day and hit that valve while the hot water was still running... Between the pressure and the heat my hose exploded near the sink. Water everywhere.

I had this problem way way back. I solved it with 8 bucks.
Took off the Male portion of the Faucet and took it to Home Depot with the attatchment of the Python. Found 2 pcs that matched to connect the python staright to my faucet without the whole setup.

So I just turn on the water and set the right temp, then screw in the python (with the water off or Youtube it when you do it on Lol) toss the other end in the tank and let'er rip :D.

(Didnt read all the posts if this has already been said:))

then you lost the ability to use your faucet for the siphoning process correct?

I thought about doing that. I drain my large tanks directly outside into containers we use to water the garden. I then attach to the faucet adapter to fill. My 10g I use the python to drain and fill. I may just have to go this route from now on...

I don't use the faucet for siphoning except for my 10g anyways. Its a lot faster to drain outside into tubs than through the faucet (plus it doesn't waste any water from the faucet running).

I use the Aqueon brand and find it much better than the Python kit. For siphoning, I hook it up to the garden hose outside. With the big increase in water pressure, she'll suck the paint off a Buick.

Yeah I don't let the water run the entire time. I get it started with the water running, then depending on how much I'm draining I have to run it a bit towards the end as well.

It depends on the Operator:D

I do the following...

Grab my Python with custom model extension for tall tanks...

Add my boot leg adapter:ROFL:...

attatch and fill'er up :D (after filling up the tank, I put the faucet back together so the kids can wash dishes Lol)

This is what I use to drain my 150glns of my 300 in about 5 minutes flat:headbang2

I agree, Aqueon is much better quality than the python.

Right...I'm just saying, for my uses I find the pass-through portion of the python setup indispensable for getting my siphon going and then keeping it going as the water level drops.

I've got a setup closer to yours (well, I'm working on it anyways) for the 55g thats in the back bedroom--my 65 & 20 are right on the other side of the bar by the kitchen sink.

I went and got a little adapter thats threaded on one side and slip on the other that screws right onto the showerhead (I've got the type the has a handle on a hose as a second showerhead). There wasn't a good match of clear tubing to fit tightly inside the adapter, but my plan is to use some silicone I have laying around to create a good seal. I should be able to get the temp right through the lower (bathtub) faucet, then switch it over to the showerhead and watch the tank fill :)

With the 55 it'll be no problem to do a manual siphon right into the bathtub. The problem I have with the 65 & 20 is that they aren't high enough over the sink to really keep the siphon going once the water level drops.

I have a feeling (so long as this works correctly) that when I get into a house I'll definitely want my tanks in a room with a bathroom attached so that I can use this method for all of them. I should be able to leave the hose attached to the shower at all times, which is the biggest annoyance with the python.
