Python Faucet Adapter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My python has only broken twice at the female adapter. That was only an $8 replacement. Well worth the investment considering the convenience anyway. Didn't bother me a whole lot.

What WOULD bother me was if I had to buy a whole new set. But I didn't need to! :)

I too am gettin pissed with the faucet adapter. I think I will just cut the hose so as to remove the gravel vac attachment since I use my kleensweep anyway for that and attach it to my FX5 to drain and the sink to fill. Will probably go that route when I break this adapter...

What do you mean by attach it to the fx5? Does it have an extra connection or method meant for draining, or do you have something else in mind?

I'm a step ahead of you as far as cutting the hose though. I use my diy kleen sweep for cleaning, my gravel-vac attachment just sits in the stand collecting dust now. I did find out that while I'm draining I can use the hose to clean the pre-filter sponge on my magnum 250 :)

The FX5 has a second quick snap attachment that I can attach the hose to and then just swap out the return for the FX5 and have it drain my tank for me. My intake for the pump is low enough that I dont have to worry about anything there. When done with the drain I will just click back on the normal return line as I fill the tank back up.

I have to mess with my FX5 anyway to figure out where my slight air leak is coming from causing me to have those damn micro bubbles.

I tried the FX5 connect at the bottom and it took to long. The black hose has been the fastest for me thus far!

As for the connect to the sink, it fits me just fine. I like it better than the big python connector. Its easy to hide/store and a lot less to worry about. I have to extend my python about 75% to fill the tank, the last thing I want to do is have to worry about the drain of the python connect to loosen up or start to leak during my focus of the water change :D

To each their own :D

The FX5 connection at the bottom is just a gravity drain. The one at the top is a powered 6-900 GPH return so faster then I would need to drain my tank in all of a few minutes.

Ah.

I could probably rig up something with my xp3...get a couple valve shutoffs & a T connector...keep the drain hose coiled up & attached, just unroll it to the sink to drain.

Doesn't do me much good for the 20 though:\ Ah well. I'll perfect it eventually, for now I'm fine with the process all things considered. No use in getting too crazy with it, I'm hoping to move into a house next year anyways.

Haha yeah...I'm lazy :p

I dunno, I'll take a closer look at all of that mess once my 55 is fully setup & going and I have a method in place for its fill & drain. For now it works fine to just use the python and do one then the other since they (65 & 20) sit right next to eachother.

Moloch took the words out of my mouth Lol. I need as little work as possible with my schedule Lol. To get under my tank and in the back of the stand to connect a just to drain... then I would have to use the python to vac the whatever I see that needs to go... not for me.
I use my Plastic Hose as both in one... I swift the top of my sand to get debree out as it drains the tank fairly quick (2 birds with one stone :D)

This is pretty interesting to hear how people do their maintenance :)
