I get what your saying its a good point. And im not arguing it cant be done cheaper. Some people just like the security of a proven product with everything ready to go out of the box . What kind of attachment are you using on the sink ?

Metal connector, one side screws into the part of the faucet where the "aerator" thing attaches, the other side has regular hose threads.

i detach the part the part that attaches to the sink and just do the whole natural siphone thing and drain out the window, then attach the part that goes to the sink and fill up the tank, and and de chlor before filling :D

is there a reason you can't add equal diameter tubing from lowes/Home depot at .40 ft to your Python? I got one in a CList deal and was wondering if that might work? I have no experience with it...

I bought a bunch of the Lowe's tubing, and just the faucet attachment by itself for a few bucks, and used a gravel vac I already had and rigged up my own python for dirt cheap, but it didn't work all that well. The problem is that the tubing is the thin walled type, and tends to collapse when you apply the suction. You can make it work, just be aware of the wall thickness of the tubing you buy.

I'm sure that would work, but one thing about the python tubing I noticed is that it's a silicone material and flexes and bends a lot easier than vinyl tubing from Home Depot or Lowes. So its just something to consider.

i just bought the aqueon version havnt used it yet but im very impresed with the price $45 and the qaulity so far
