Looking to connect a pond pump to my python for quicker water changes (specifically emptying tank).

Does anyone have a pump and fitting recommendation?

Great thanks!

Anyone know what's the inner diameter of Python hose? I'd rather use existing hose if possible.

With a thin hose you might damage the pump if using an pondpump thats made for large amounts of water.

My tanks are located on the ground level of my house and with access to a sliding door so I just use sump pump hose and a DIY PVC J-hook to drain directly outside. Not sure if this method is what might work for you but just an option instead of a pump.

I use a submersible sump with 1 1/4" typical plastic sump hose. Similar to this model.

Drop it into my 300 gallon tank and in about 10 minutes it'll drain over 200 gallons. Have to drain outside because the utility sink can't keep up with the flow.

The larger the diameter hose the faster the drain time will be. So if that’s your intention I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want to us a bigger hose. You could get a return pump that would fit your python but the drain time won’t be much faster then just the python it self.

Yes that is my intention so I will get a larger hose, 1 or 1.5" diameter.
