Q about 3m sand for Pups (4-5")

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just thought it was way to bright, looked orange to me. maybe it was my lights ??

R1 had this color way back and it looked sweet. but it looked terrible in my tank. IMO

Keepin, I thought it looked pretty good. Especially the last shot with the 2 rays. If I go back to Estes in with my rays that will probably
go great with that color, my marbles and a late/future Xmas present for me.

I like the gravel I have also. Its natural river gravel 1/16-1/8 inch in diameter, so its a little
larger/heavier and rays sift and bury themselves quite easily. Plus it doesn't stick to them.
Now for the shocking revelation, I got it some 15 years ago out of Tube Sand Bags
from Walmart.:) All natural and no additives
I wont go back to Estes or 3M. Just liked your color.

Is there more than just black, white and blue in estes colors? I kept trying to find colors and just seen the same 3 over and over... Do you have a link if they do?

i would prefer the gravel you have. where do you get that?

Some folks liked it some did not, i was one who did not :)

I dont have gravel, just s grade sand.

Im tired of the bright white and the way the sand looks so dirty so fast... its hard to keep white clean with a black background

Thats why I wanna get a diff color

It's probably loaded with silica;)

I kept my marbles on Estes beige. Not as bright as the white.

I just found the link to the rainbow:D... Man, I dont like their colors... they seem to shinny (maybe its just the pics they have).

Is the sand shinny?

It's not shiney underwater.

Here is some sand/gravel I collected this summer from a local river. It's in a 10 gal tank and the grain size is between 1-3 mm, with a few larger pebbles mixed in. I think it would look great in a larger tank for rays.

They don't list the Ultra Reef and colors. I know they have Tan, black, blue, green, orange and white for sure.
I sent them an email asking for a link to the Ultra Reef colors and also for the MSDS specs.
The black that I have isn't shiny. Here is an older pic with my pups. (Dis reguard the white specs, got some pool filter sand spilled into it)
The Aqua Sand listed is a courser product.
