Q about 3m sand for Pups (4-5")

Spotfin- The smallest pcs is te Estes, right? Thats not the one that float when it gets air correct? Im assuming its a grade bigger

Shadow- is that the fine sand aka S grade?

Man, this is so hard... I dont care for paying more if it will keep my fish (general., not just rays) healthy... but i dont want to risk my filter getting clogged with floating sand. I have my FX5 with the dual output but I have an air line connected to the hose/output and it makes a ton of air... I might be risking a floating substrate...LOL

I think the 3M S grade is a smaller grain than the Estes. The Estes only floats when it is intially wetted. Just swish it around to make sure all the grains sink.

No that is the Estes Ultra Reef. Like Spotfin said once it is settled in, its fine. As for
as an FX5 I had issues with it getting sucked into the filter as when the rays spooked
or buried themselves right by the intake. of course sand got sucked in.
Even with the intake 4-5 inches off the bottom. It actually stopped my impeller, that
was when I decided to remove it. Don't want to constantly pay for a new impeller.

Now when I go to an overflow or such when I get my larger tank, then I might consider it again.
