What are peoples feelings on Aqua Clear filters...someone suggested them to me the other day. I've never used one and was wondering if they were any good.

The best hands down HOB made. No throw away filters long lasting and easy to get parts for (impellar, shaft) Easy to clean as well. These are the brown filters you see in garage sales used 20 years ago and still work....lol

Awesome. I have a few and if this next line doesn't convince you nothing will. I am still using one of the brown ones from like 1991-92. Still working like a charm. Was even stored away for over a year and brought back, plugged in and worked fine. I buy filter bags and fill them with activated charcoal in lieu of buying their pouches but great filters.

My AC110 is fairly noisy. I also have an AC50 though, which is silent. They are nice filters; well designed (no cartridges to deal with) and seem to last a long time. The AC50 is around 5 years old.

i have several AC110's i use as backups and what not, plus one thats been running nonstop for several years, and is on a bichir tank now. there quite well made it seems, work perfectly, and you can customize the media however you see fit.

i run mine with one foam and the rest stuffed to the top with bio-max. ive also used it with 2foams as nothing but a mechanical beast, and it works wonderfully.
