  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love them!

i use the stock foam for mech (does a great job), and stuff whatever biomedia i can find in the remaining space.

Mine is VERY quiet.

AC110 and AC70 :thumbsup:

AC50 or smaller :thumbsdow

ive got a few ac110s as well as a few of the smaller once... all of them work great and are quiet except for the waterfall sound when the water is low..

I got an AC50 on my 20 gal, an AC70 on my 30 gal, and an AC110 on my 55 gal. Best H.O.B. IMO. Very reliable, easy to maintain, easy to find parts (this can be justified by the amount of people who use them- supply & demand), and a lot more room for bio media than any other H.O.B.

I am running two AC70's on my 55, and the water is crystal clear. I am curious what people use in the filter when they say that they dont need to replace anything? I rinse out the sponge whenever it is needed, and I do not replace the biomax, but what about the carbon? Is it not needed? or can it be rinsed?

I had 4 AC110's running... lets just say i have 1 now on a 65G tank, For some reason they got extremely noisy, so much vibration that I found myself reseating the lids every other day... I can deal with water noise but a buzzing is just annoying...

I have 2 AC300's running and they are super silent...

For what it's worth if it were me, instead of buying 1 AC110 i would get 2 AC70's, 2 AC70's consume less power then 1 AC110 and you have redundancy.

Must change the GAC (granulated activated carbon) out on a regular basis. Once the GAC is saturated it begins to put off phosphates that are harmful to fish and you'll start to see an algae bloom. Depending on the size of your setup you may need to replace it once a month.

Also, AC 110's are the greatest HOB's every made.

:)

I have two AC50's running on my 20gal, When I set up my 33 gallon I will have 2xAC50 and 1xAC30. Awesome filters in my opinion. I have had an AC mini for about 15 years now...Still going strong (as far as the mini ones go) Replaced a sponge on it recently because it was breaking apart.
But yea, very customizable no need to buy carbon for it. I stock mine with:
Bottom = foam block
mid = filter floss
top = biomax
My water is crystal clear, although one of my filters makes some noise. All of the other are silent.
