Question about building sump

XD is just a happy face sideways and my main drain is 2 1/4" and my emergency drain is 1.5" i think i have to double check when i get home

ragin_cajun should matthew match his pump flow rate to his E drain flow rate ? Then adjust the siphon

yep. size the pump to the worst case scenario. So the worst case would be turbulent flow in a 1.5 inch Emergency Drain. Chart below gives estimates of the rate a drain can flow.

Thats why you want to match the pump to the E drain if you match it to the siphon the gph will be higher and if it ever clogd your E drain wont handle it.
