I'm Where I'm At
Just wondering what you guys think or maybe what you guys have done in this situation. And it's not that big of a deal, just curious to hear what you guys think.

So my neighbor, who seems to be a cool guy, has these bushes and tree that branch over to my side, and every fall, i get leaves and flowers in my yard. like a good size pile gathers up that i gotta clean up. I have to trim them to, I've literally trimmed down the branches when they come over too much.

If only they were fruit trees or something, then at least i can enjoy the fruits that come over, but i only get flowers and leaves.

What have you guys done in this situation? confront the guy? or just deal with it and clean up every year which is what i've done all this time.

we had a problem like this were our backyard neighbor and these big old thorn bush that was huge and took up his old yard and thorn vines would cross through our side and needed to be trimmed, all u can really do is trim whats on your side because whatever is on your side is your property

I wouldnt even bother him about it ,unless its a REALLY BIG mess

it's not too messy, but man, the flowers are white, when they fall, it's an eye sore. then they turn brown and blend in with the dirt

yea i guess i'll just keep dealing with it

This is how I've always felt, just like if he wanted to,he couldn't come over to your side to trim them if he wanted unless you allowed it.

My problem was that me and my neighbors on one side had a row of tall trees that ran down the length of our yards on the roperty line and they provided a good bit of shade and privacy in the summer.Well one year the thoughtful neighbors just up and decided to cut them all down to the height of the fence and it turned my yard into a desert.

I had kind of the same situation with my neighbor and a 5' burm that is mostly on his property but does come over a foot or two onto my property. He used to keep the side of the burm that faced his yard immaculate. But he let the side that faced my house get grown over with weeds and didn't really take care of the backside because it couldn't be seen from his yard. So one day I saw him out and asked him if it would be okay if I sprayed the weeds on the backside of the burm. We discussed it and he said he would start taking care of the other side of his burm and I have had no issues since. So I would bring it up to your neighbor casually and then see if you could work something out. He might be willing to come over and trim and clean up the debris, but you might have to bring it to his attention.

Not sure of the "laws" where you live, but I have a neighbor who has a pine tree that extends into my driveway. Well, when you get out of the passenger side the darn thing pokes you, I had to ask her if it was alright to cut the branches, as I was told, if I cut the tree without permission, and the tree dies, I would be liable for the tree.....

Me... I would go over and talk to the neighbor. I would bring it up as a question... "Hey ___, is it okay if I trim your tree?"
The whole idea is to bring the situation up w/the hopes to have a heavy hearted neighbor and feel the need to clean up after his loving tree. If he say Yes, then next time I would ask him to give me a hand:naughty:.

If they are elderly (or a woman), I would still do the same w/100% intention to trim/clean it... this way you guys get to talk and they know you are a cool neighbor:p.
