While finishing the set up of my 125, I had a question on synodontis. Is keeping three or more a good idea? I have heard that this helps to dispel aggression. Also, what are some cool species?

Some may disagree, but I'm a fan of the hybrids. I have a really cool Syn. Sp. "Zebra"

Those look cool! Any idea on a good number of one synodontis species to keep in general? Can you keep multiple different species? Sorry for all the questions.

What else are you keeping? If no other big mouths and can take the bioload a group of 5-6 multipunctatus would be active and fun to watch. Otherwise a single Euruptus, Angelicus, or one of the hybrids. They are still catfish and add considerably to your bioload in the tank. Fair warning the bigger ones hang out in hides a lot.

Synodontis lucipinnis, or S. multipunctatus are the two most common species that are endemic to the Rift Lakes.

petricola are cool also Angelicus is really neat but pricey Yes you can get multiple cats together just give them a log or other cave to hang out in Angelicus get about 10 inches Mine is nine and had him for years I have 5 petricola that love to cran in an old ceramicbarrel decoration the Angelicus hides under the driftwood they all seem to ignore each other

FYI ...... most of the fish sold as S. petricola, are actually S. lucipinnis. I have a group of 8 adult wild caught specimens. Awesome cats.

Allan01230, that is cool, I might try two different species

RD., are there any defining characteristics of S.petricola?
