Question why do people feal the need to use the word retard?

It's really something how a single thread can liven up a forum.The lounge was almost as dead as that other whole site before this topic came up.

and for the record you havent saw or read anywhere on the forum that i called someone fat i stated 99 percent of the time they have a choice not all but uselay there sa choice if someone is overwheight. people with phsyical and mental disabilitys dont have a choice. its people like you that are the reason the world is like it is.

It doesn't matter if you've called somebody fat or not. You're being hypocritical because you don't see any offense in the word, just like most of us don't see any offense in the word retard. Nope i never said it wasnt offencive . Them words never came out my mouth. What i said was the people who are over wheight useualy have a choice. its useualy something they can fix. How can u not see that someone who is crippled at birth. or born without being able to walk. or being able to talk or to proces thought. Has nothing to do with something that can be fixed with diet and medicle treatment if need be. My son been in a body cast 3 times. He has had his ankles cut off rotated pined. His thigh bones rotated and pined. His back has 10 rods in it to help straighten him out. None of these surgerys have made him able to walk. If he was over wheight they got optionds that can fix that issue. yes calling someone fat is wrong. But agin a overwheight person does have a choice wether its a big choice little choice theres useualy a choice . You no what my kids choice is? What color wheels he wants on his new chair. And what color seat cushins he gets. thats his choice,.

I am a Disabled Veteran, Wounded in Iraq and Disabled. If someone uses the word Retard, Cripple or anything else it doesn't offend me because I know it isn't directed towards me. Get a grip! Quit being so sensitive and take it for what it is! People are different.

And in regards to your last post, It is "those words" not "Them Words"! I find that offensive, lol

And how can you not see when somebody uses the word, it's not an insult or a jab at your son, unless it's directed at him (which is unacceptable). I was actually searching around the web for discussions on this matter and came across this comment, which echos my sentiment so....

But I would perceive that as a threat, considering what we are doing now is a discussion. Stating there needs to be a dialogue face to face means something cannot be accomplished with out being physically present. Unless he lacks imagination in ways to "discuss" (phone call, email, text message, instant message, this forum..) I'd say he had malicious intent.

When people use the word retard retarded in a coment statement it doesnt have to be aimed at a individual . if its being used in a derogatory way meaning that somthing or someone . is slow or dumb or stupid in the same way a person that may be mentaly retarded is. Wich when used in this manor is not proper. and means the use of the word is not being used in the proper context. They arent meaning to retard the timeing on a motor or to put a fire out. They mean it in a insulting way. Wich in turns is makeing fun of or puting down someone with a mental disability.

If i ment bodily harm . I would gladly mention it. i like a good face to face discussion.
