Questions about Carinotetraodon travancoricus

I kept seeing people with that amount in 20-40g tanks.

I was expecting to be able to put 10-15 in there. :P
Which would have been ideal, as it would most definitely spread aggression across all of them.

I'm not a fan of overcrowded tanks (mostly because I'm lazy and don't want to do water changes every 2 days...), but they're so tiny and small, I figured I could do more.

Still waiting for Devon's answer on channas, but it looks like it's going to be pygmies, as I don't have much hope for a group of channas in this volume. ;)

You could easily go more, that was my conservative estimate based on having tankmates as well, since the more puffers in the tank, the more jaws going after tankmates...

If you went with say just dwarf puffers, you could easily fit probably 30-40+ in a 90G as long as there are less male to female balance :)

If you have some thick plants and a good guppy colony, you can afford some munching on tankmates.

Oh dear god, now we're talking!

Who needs tank mates if you can have that many little puffers with all their own personality. :D
Can they be introduced batch after batch? Chances of me finding 30 are thin at best :P

Hmmmmmm... can you introduce them in batches... thats a tough question...

I will say it'll work best if you can make sure each new batch going in is about the same size as the exisiting ones...

But with that being said, each time you add a new batch it would be a good idea to change up the decor so they all have to regain new territory, so the new comers dont have as much to worry about ;)

Makes sense, same as sneakheads.
And most fish in general.

They sell them at the same size every time I go in. So when I get my first batch, i'll order the rest. it'll only be 1 week difference, 2 at most between batches.

I'll add batches with dithers, that way it gets easier in the long run.

To be fair, if I get them 10 by 10, I doubt 10 would take a territory over a 90gal alone :P

Might sound silly, but would Pantodon Buchholzi be an issue to puffers?

I know they do have a big mouth, but it's usually limited to the very top of the tank...

Get a floating plastic toy one. It'll do the same thing with less bioload.

I love Pantodons, haven't been able to get more since I first had them, as they seriously stood no chance with fish like wolf fish, dorado, arowana, channa... :P
But I guess in this case, they would be the predators!

African buttefly fish???

They might work, but i would guess you may find a few puffers missing every now and again???
