I'm not too sure yet, the place that I'm purchasing the tank from sells the tank fully equipped (heater, pump, filter, etc) so I'll have to wait to see...any suggestions?

used tanks or brand new full set ups? Do you only have the 10 gallon running at home? Any one close to you have an established tank running?

keep piranhas only. especially in the tank size you're refering too. oscars are filthy disgusting fish (personal opinion but they are messy eaters with alot of waste, lmao), combine that with the messy eating habits of piranhas and you begin to see the problem. if you want a community tank (you've mentioned you want other fish with them), you might want to consider switching to something other then piranhas before you're in too deep.

i'd get a 75, you're going to need to upgrade from that 55 anyways. might as well get the larger of the 2 tanks, if you're buying used, they can often be found for close to the same price.

I have 2 RBP and 2 O's in 100 gal, they get along fine...

Just make sure the oscar big enough to not be seen as food.

Oscar are awesome fish, they're like underwater puppies, until someone invents the dogtopuss, you should have one ... thats just my personal opinion

He sells both, yeah until tomorrow I have them in a 10 gallon tank...the only person who has an established tank around me is my friend, his red terror cichlid died yesterday, his other fish killed it.

When you purchased your fish, did you buy them all at once or did you purchase them separately? Meaning, you bought your Oscars 1st, as they got older then your bought 2 RBP's or vice versa?

that's great! the exceptions aren't the rules. i'm sure my largest piranha who had a good 3 inches on the next biggest wasn't seen as food but i still found it with just his head left. fed them everyday at the time too, including talipia the day he was offed.

my opinion is why play with fire. lots of people get away with throwing random mix together but hardly any keep them together for long enough to know if it really worked. one of my fish stores keeps baby piranhas, oscars and exodons close to the same size in a tank, doesn't mean it's a recipe for sucdess though

Yeah I am lol I'm looking at other people's RBP tanks to get an idea...I pretty much have a good idea of how I want it too look, similar to the photo below but my question is the lighting. I know, alot of light stresses them out but I want something colorful yet dim to bring the tank out more..sorta like the lighting in the photo below
