I just got a festae but its very shy. I have yet to see it eat, I tried krill, bloodworms, hikari staple and gold pellets, silversides and beef heart. Its in my 220 with my arowana and 2 retic rays, aro is 13-15 inches and retics are very young and small. Tank parameters are excellent, amonia - 0ppm, nitrites- 0ppm and nitrates 15-ppm. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated, Thanx in advance.

Give it some time and the Festae should be out and about. How many days have you had this Festae? Festae are pretty greedy so it should not be to long before it begins to eat. Does the fish appear to be sick?

I've had since thursday, got it from csx4236 I couldnt make it to the meet today so i went over thursday to get it. It doesnt seem to be sick it just hides all day long and only comes out a couples of times when the lights are off.

Sounds like it may just be stressed. Maybe leave the light off to give it some time to acclimate to its new surrondings.

Do I feed it with the lights off?

its between 5-6 inches and i don't think the aro can fit it in its mouth, festae is a lil too big

i'd say it's a bit stressed from the tankmates specifically the presence of a much larger fish.
give it some time and i'm sure it'll be ok. for all you know in the past when it's tried to come out the aro went after him.
