Quick grower!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice growth. I find that they usually grow pretty quickly to at least 6"-8" and then slow down.

mine seemed to never grow....but i guess its just hard for them to feed cuz there very passive...But upload some pics i always wanted to see a beastie BGK

Passive???? ****, when i feed mine bloodworms he comes straight from his hieing spot and attacks the surface. Ive been teaching my fish to come up to eat, so i tap gently on the frame with there food. After a few weeks they all come up even before the food hits the water.

I've kept loads of BGK's over the years. They LURVE bloodworm!!

The thing that surprises me is that all you Americans say that they can be nasty, but in all the ones I've kept I've never known an aggressive one. They CAN hold thier own - they have big powerful mouths - but every one I've ever had has been peaceful. I've kept them with the smallest fish - even unguarded fry (e.g. guppies etc) and I've even seen them back off from food if there are fry near it !!!

Brown Ghosts - well they're completely different. Beautiful, but nasty little bad-tempered antisocial little nippy little bast*rds !!

Must be the water haha. Mine has killed a pleco and plucked eyeballs out.

I did have 2 BGK's in a 20g (temp) and they did get pissy with each other, but i soon got them moved to a 55g and a 45g but yes, other than that ive had no problems. I have a skull in my 55 and he 'lays' in the eye socket, makes me think he is dead at times.

Yeah but what did the pleco do to it first?(They are known for trying to suck on other fish..)

The pleco always hung out near the BGK's log picking up scraps. My guess is that the BGK came out looking for the scraps and basically ate the pleco's face off haha. It was gory.
