Quick LED question, please.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tried a 9 foot roll of the 3M 10k white led's... not nearly bright enough. I like the look it started to give me, but not enough.

Back to the drawing board.

Aquatic life, ecozotic, marine land, beams work.... Ggrrr haha. Any 6500-10,000k led ideas from hardware stores or something? Everything at my lowes was like 3500k. Frown.

Why don't you checkout rapidled.com? They sell kits and individual parts and their customer service is extremely helpful and fast at responding. That's where I got my led kit for my reef tank.

Thanks for the input! I'm just curious how bright they actually are, you know?

They're extremely bright, but they work as a spotlight so you'll have areas if dim light and areas of bright and, depending in how deep your tank is, the light will start dispersing as it gets deeper and gets dimmer. It'll give you the effect like a forest canopy over a river where leaves and branches block out some of the light. If you put it higher up though, you'll get an even dispersion but lose the shimmer. The bulbs are pretty heavy too so if you do get them, make sure the mount is on there tight.
