cool man. interesting filter. but after a bad experience with an odyssea compact fluorescent strip light, i will stay awau from odyssea products.

another thing i am having a problem is with the little rubber bands around the barbs on the red things that the hoses go on...the rubber bands always get pushed off by the hose, did you find a solution to this :|

Yes, put a portion of the hose around the gasket at an angle. Then use your fingers to hold the other portion in place. It took me a while, but it finally stayed in place. Basically put as much of the hose on at an angle vs. All at once.

i have the actual oddysea major distributor in my back yard. I own five similar cannisters from odyssea, the only difference is instead of a black canister I have the see thru acrylic canister, actually pretty cool cuz you can see water level, uv light on/off, and also can constantly ck if media is dirty. The shut off valves take a lot of force to get them to seat in, don't be afraid to push hard. Two of my canisters have the shut off valves leaking, I went back and they said there's an o-ring that gets knocked out of place, just wiggle back and forth til it reseats. It worked for one of my shut off valves but not the other. Fortunately all five filters are in garage so I don't care if it leaks. The bio balls are garbage so I replaced with ceramic rings, they're fully submerged, rings work better anyways.
