Quick Odyssea CFS500 Review

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just got mine today but i was just curious can i just set it up and run it or should i hook it up to a bucket or something and run it for a few days?

I'm interested in getting this filter, but I have a few questions first:
Is the quality of this filter worth 1/2 the price of a Eheim 2217? IE: 4x Geo's and 8 rainbow's.
How well would this filter go with a lightly stocked 75G??
Also how easy do you think it would be to make a DIY spray bar for it?
Is it wise to replace the Bio-Balls with ceramic noodles or Matrix??
Thanks,
Craig

Hopefully their filters last longer than their tanks. This one went almost 10 months before bursting. Unfortunately, the CSF-4 filter broke while I was setting it up and I had to settle for a lousy Eheim.

Ask yourself something. When it comes to equipment that will contain or transport hundreds of gallons of water IN YOUR HOUSE, do you really want to find out how much Fate loves you?

Not incidentally, I wouldn't use that new-fangled Fluval filter, the one that's smarter than R2D2, for the same reason: there's only one way to find out how reliable it will be.

mine came with a sponge :/ water doesnt really movev through the bottom much... i think either of them will be fine, maybe ceramic rings with its holes will be better since matrix may be a bit too compact so water movement will be even less...

Have you had any problems with your's so far?
Maybe it would be a better idea then to put the black sponge on the bottom and the ceramic rings in the middle and the blue sponge on the top??
