Quick Question on Angelfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am curious to know if you used a liquid test kit how you know it is 4 PPM?

Cloudy eyes is most likely not a parasite. I agree with the other poster a water change is in order.

the carbon I too do believe it reduces oxygen in the water.

I think your fish are twitching/scratching/quivering bc they are irritated with whatever is in your water. Are they producing excessive slime coat as well?

I once had an angel get stuck between some decor and got cloudy eyes but clean water cleared it up.

I had my lfs test my water. Also, should I feed then a little now just to help their immune system? I can soak the food in ginger, garlic and aloe vera?

The m not sure why your feeding fish ginger and aloe Vera? I’m not even sure what these things could be doing to your system, if anything at all? Maybe they are part of your problems? I’m not sure bc I’m not familiar with feeding fish those items.

soaking food in garlic helps entice a fish to eat and for the immune system. So I don’t see that being a problem.

Oh i had read on another thread that ginger is also good for a fishes immune system and aloe vera sap is good for a fishes slime coat, but just now after reading I read some contradicting info. I guess it was just a panic move, but I only did it once and that was last night and then I did a wc this morning.

Would if be a mistake to add more live plants to the tank and also I probably wont be dosing liquid carbon again for a while until the situation betters.

Rather then spend money on plants I would purchase the API liquid test kit. It is an invaluable tool that every aquarist should own and use regularly.
add to the tank after you figure out what is wrong with it.

On a side note is there any available test kit that would show precise measurement of 4ppm?

Im not sure, but yes I am going to get a test kit, but I will also be getting plants to help my water quality and help the fish feel more secure. would adding plants be a mistake? Also is API the test kit that I should get? That seems to be the one that everyone has and since my lfs doesn't stock them I need to order them on amazon.

I would recommend api.
That last part was more of a general question. I am not aware of one on the market that is that precise.
