really? 4 to 6 weeks seems way excessive no? the silicone should be fully curred after a few days, but most tank manufacturers recommend a week to be safe..
I threw the papers away that came with mine otherwise I would tell you exactly what it said. Mine was built long enough before I received it that the necessary time was long passed.
It does suck but it is certainly worth it in the long run. I can't think of too many things (within reason) that would suck worse than having a leaky tank due to impatience. Even though mine was ready for water when I received it I still didn't have it ready for water for about three or four weeks. The wait was miserable, fun, but miserable.
