Cockroach,
You need to make a big decision. Do you want dwarf Cichlids or just gentle med large SA Cichlid tank?

You can't have both if you are trying to combine any Apistogramma, Dicrossus, Crenicara, Nannacara or Taeniacara species if you also want to keep Mesonauta and Pterophllum species. The latter is a listing of all the true SA Dwarf Cichlids.

Mesonauta and Pterophyllum species are too large and aggressive to keep with the dwarf Cichlids. They do very well together particularly wild Pterophylum species rather than domestic varieties of Angels which have had too much wimpism bred into them. Smaller yet peaceful Cichlids that are suitable are any of the Laetacara and the monotypic genus Cleithracara maroni, the Keyhole Cichlid. Dwarf Pike Cichlids will also work with this crowd.

The only large SA Cichlid that are suitable tankmates are the Symphysodon species including the domestic forms. Laetacara, and Cleithracara maroni will work with any of the true SA dwarf Cichlids.

Also unsuited is your choice of Corydoras paleatus. Corydoras sterbai is the most commonly available Cory that will do well at elevated temperatures that all these Cichlids prefer. Happily it is also among the best looking.

Other catfish that are good choices are Ancistrus sp. 3, Hypancistrus, Otocinclus, Peckoltia, Panaque L204, and Sturisoma sp. Do not mix Sturisoma with Symphysodon sp. They harass Discus.
