I'm sure its fine. does it say on the bag what it is made from (silica, quartz, something else?)

I've never personally used that exact brand but it looks good to me

It would be better if you looked around at Lowes or asked someone at Home Depot if you can find some pool filter sand. That regular sand will cloud your water up really bad at first, can be really annoying, and just not worth it. Pool filter sand is definitely the way to go. Its better to wait it out and get the right stuff then to have to change it later. ;)

Just make you didn't get concrete mix by accident...that would SUCK!!

Home Depot doesn't carry any pool sand. Just the Quickcrete stuff you got and Playsand.

Well screw it. I'll just go to Petsmart in the AM and buy the black Tahitian Black Moon...that's what I wanted in the first place but thought if I could get this stuff cheaper. I have to have the substrate before I put the fish in right?

None of my local hardware stores (in Las Vegas) carried pool filter sand. Which I found very odd, considering how many pools there are in the area. I tried a pool supply store and they had 50 lb bags for $9.

3M colorquartz is your best bet. You can get it in just about any color you want. May take some searching to find someone that carries it though.

No. I've changed the substrate a couple times to sand when I had fish in the tank. It would be cheaper for you to order it online though. You would have to be patient for a few days, but its well worth it. Plus, with moon sand, a little goes A LONG way...lol.

You only want the sand to be about an 1" to 1.5" deep....any deeper than that and you may start having problems with anerobic bacteria. As it is you will have to stir it at least once a week for the first few weeks. ;)
