R.I.P MY PACU

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Adrianm: aldiaz33 puts it a bit mean, but ultimately is correct...... unless of course this was just a grow out tank and you had a pond ready for these guys. If this is not the case, please do research your fish before purchasing.....and don't feel bad about forgetting to dechlorinate..... I forgot to do this to 8 tetra feeders just two days ago....and they all died on me....bummer....live and learn. good luck.

I would have had more sympathy if I hadn't read his other threads. He has been told nicely by several other members about the monster fish he keeps buying for his 70G tank.

Wow, I guess there are some perfect people here, none of which live in glass houses?

Obviously the poster is hurting with the loss of their fish and yet some people feel the need to insult him/her? Sure the CC was too big for the small environment but to be puerile about it is pathetic.

I'm sorry for the loss of your fish!

Noboby's perfect. But if you come to a website for advice (see OPs old threads) on what fish to buy for a 70 gallon tank and you receive responses from knowledgable people advising against an RTC, Aro, Pacu and Channel cat, then ignore the advice and buy them anyways...I'm not going to be crying with you when the fish dies...altough I feel very sorry for the poor fish, I don't feel bad for the irresponsible owner.

Thanks everyone ^^

Someone asked what part of mexico i was from, im from Cozumel.

Every celebrity has fans and haters.

btw Im very happy, today i paitend the back of the tank black, i love it.

Celebrity? Perhaps infamy.

Tank looks good. A school of congo tetras, some angelfish and a pictus cat would look great in there.

Was I correct on my guess?

I'm so sorry to hear about your fish. And don't worry about people jumping on you. When I first started out I planned to get a great big big big tank so I had a leopard pleco and 2 blood parrots in a 26 gallon. I feel like an idiot now but after the blood parrots passed away (we think it was ammonia) I had a fellow on the blood parrot site jump down my throat. He told me to give away my pleco and get some tiny fish for my tank. It's hard to make people understand that it's just your baby tank while you get your skills and your money up for the real thing. We all make some pretty big mistakes early on and we all suffer for it. You've probably learned a lot from this. Good luck in the future :(

I agree...we all have to learn somehow. Classic example of needing to touch the stove to find out it's hot, even though you've already been told it will burn you. An Aro, RTC, Channel Cat and Pacu will outgrow that 70 gallon within a month. You would need a 1,000G+ tank to come even close to properly keeping all of those fish.

Happy fish keeping.

***************Why would the OP write this? I was inquiring what part of Mexico he was from because my father is Mexican and I haven't seen too many people from Mexico on these boards. It's comments like this that really makes me want to be mean to people. If you read my threads, I try to always be constructive. Not cool dude.... not cool.

I still wish you the best of luck. Take care.

...and you were calling me childish and pathetic? See below as well as the kid's old threads (your apology is accepted). He was told repeatedly that what he was doing was irresponsible, but went ahead and ignored sound advice and continued to buy some of the largest growing fish in this hobby. If that isn't puerile, I don't know what is. You are clearly on the wrong side of this debate.

Sorry to hear that. I know you were coming from a good place. I also like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I saw the writing on the wall with the OPs old threads.

To the OP- So that this thread isn't completely negative, how about building a pond for these future monster fish? I would imagine that a home that sells for $600K in Mexico would have some land, so building a large pond is probably an option. The temps would likely stay warm enough to keep these fish and would be much more suitable given the enormous sizes that these fish can reach at maturity. There are some threads on this site with good tips on how to build them.
Silver Aro = 3'
Red Tail Cat = 4'
Pacu = 3'
Channel Cat = 3'

You are not the first person to say that...
Unfortunately, out of around 10 people who says that, only 1 actually gets a bigger tank/build a pond.

Ok here is my effort to lighten the mood of this gloomy thread. No one hates you, and we don't doubt you have a very nice house. The fish you have chosen are amazing fish and most MFK's would love to own them but they don't have the means to house one properly. If you can eventually get a big enough tank/pond for them more power to you. And if/when you do we would all love to see pics. The real reason I think people are upset is because you keep starting threads asking for advise, and people give you great advise. But then you go against their advise rendering the whole process useless. Please understand we only want the best for you and you fish.

Sorry to hear I've done 50% water changes without conditioner
