Not starting a domestic vs import discussion... :)

But generally speaking, it's a can be much cheaper to get more whp on domestics than imports.

With imports, turbo/suspensions/intercooler/piggy back ecu/tuning will add up much quicker than domestics.

As far as getting more whp, it is much cheaper to mod a domestic. It is truly the case of displacement wins. LOL.

Not saying you can't spend a ton of money on domestics, but it's much cheaper to get 400 whp on a domestic than a import.

I have a 400+ whp import, and I have heard some muscle car guys say to me, "with all that and you are only at 400 whp?!?"... lol

It's just a different ball game.

This is true. Cams, headers and other small upgrades go a long way on some domestics. There are exceptions like the evo where you can get 500whp with just bolt ons. Only problem with domestic is usually you have to keep it in a straight line. When imports may come with less power, they are very well balanced cars.

no way in hell 12k is gonna make a 1200 hp z. ROFLMFAO

Looks like your the only one thats laughing. My 450whp supercharger is going to land just around 4.5k. Thats installed, tuned and everything. Just have to make sure I find the right kit for the right price.

yea ok. ill believe that when i see it. just quickly browsing the vortech kits make a solid 400 but cost 5k just for the kit. if you paying a shop to install im assuming its gonna be another 1.5k

ill believe a 12k kit will make 1200hp when i see a dyno and a the owner stating he only has 12k into it.

I'll be going with the GTM supercharger kit, it will be used. Hopefully land a price of 3k-4k, tuning will be 350. Installs don't cost me anything. My friend can tune the car in his garage and we can just pay 50$ for a dyno to confirm his tunes.

The VQ has made almost 2000whp, 1200 really isn't a big deal or that costly. Besides, why are you even arguing price? It can be done and thats all that matters. In the end you can think what ever you want about price but people will still pay it.

it would cost 30k plus to reach 1200 hp. im guessing 40 or 50 and thats prob still on the low side. its not impossible but very costly.

that is what he is saying. he isnt saying its impossible he is saying that for 12k you will never make 1200 hp. that kit on the link provided, BS. u will never get those numbers for that kit. im thinking they mean with tons of other work plus thier kit it will be capable of getting it

z line is dead though. the 370 will kill it sadly. those things are junk.

oh and careful buying used superchargers. id prob pass unless u know it was used stock. no pully changes and such.

I would say paying for everything brand new and cost of install and tuning 20k (thats with supporting mods, exhaust, brakes, tires, rims ect.). It could happen for 12k with self installing, tuning, and finding parts.

There was just a twin turbo kit that was brand new for sale by owner for 4.5k that was a complete set up for 560whp. It included injectors, clutch, flywheel, everything.

Producing 560 is completly dif then creating 1200 hommie. Makibg that much is hard.
And a 300 plus gain for 4.5k? Id be suspicious.

I know it can cost a lot for the whp, but people way over pay for stuff. My buddy just got coilovers for 400$, some people pay 2k for those.

I only plan on a 150-180whp gain from the SC, the kit is 5.5k brand new. I figure I can get a decent condition one for a k less.

Hopefully it works out.

I am still trying to find that video for you, might have to make another one.
