As sorry as I feel for the victim, I think the man’s dead is well deserved. Poor bull!

This practice is crazy and should be forbidden. Shame on Sevilla, Spain and everywhere where they continue this type of practices, including my own natal country (of course inherited from Spain and Portugal).

Oddly,I have never heard of the practice of setting the bull's horns ablaze.

Hello; Interesting. Do not think the fire on horns is directly painful. Heat that close to the bulls head likely does not feel good tho. Probably put him in a very bad mood. I also did not know of the horn fires but have known of running with the bulls. A very old practice. Not something i ever wanted to do.

Not clear to me but think these bulls wind up in a fight with a matador. Maybe he will get a few more before he goes down.

I did not know of the fire on the horns myself, in Spain or anywhere else. I was referring to the general concept of enraging a bull (or groups of them) as a fun activity for the people. When people do that, everytime a bull gores somebody, good for him. People were asking for it. I don’t think the fire on the horn necessarily or directly hurts the bull, but it certainly confuses it, enrages it, and drives him wild.

Hello; I have a pasture next to my property. For several there was a small hers of black angus cattle kept there. The big bull and a few cows were the only ones that stayed over time. The young steers went to hamburger school as soon as they stopped putting on weight or started to challenge the old bull. Not sure how long the cows were kept but figure as long as them produced good calves they were OK.
I called the big bull "Big Mack", He was a fine animal. The owner of the cattle was worried about Mack's shoulder for a while but he kept doing his job. A little over a year ago the landowner and the cattle owner had words and that herd was moved away.

A few months ago, a new smaller herd showed up. Not all black angus this time. A few black cows. A few other color cows and a magnificent Herford bull. This new bull is a magnificent animal. Even better than old "Big Mack". I think he is younger. Not given him a name yet and not sure who owns these cattle. Any suggestions. Whopper maybe? Big Mack may have gone to McDonalds for all i know.

The other morning all the cattle were at the fence watching me work on a project outside. Had some classic rock and roll going. They lost interest after a while and moved on.

Anyway, my neighbor cattle do not have fire on their horns, but they wind up killed for meat eventually. Given a choice a chance to gore a few people and fight appeals more than calmly walking into a slaughterhouse.

Bravo to the bull. Anyone who puts stress and fear on any animal purely for entertainment, and then things go south for them, totally deserves it.

Do they actually have real beef in McDonalds burgers, lol.

Even without the ethics involved in bullfighting it makes me why anyone is shocked when some clown gets spiked or trampled when taking part in a bull run.
Years ago we had a tourist from here in Spain get done over very nicely, he had been up all night drinking then in the a.m took part in the run and got both gored and stomped, luckily he survived but was very seriously hurt and to top it all such things aren’t covered travel insurance.
I remember his mother crying on the news about the huge Spanish hospital bill and asking why our government wouldn’t pay it on their behalf as apparently her son was just a boy who made a mistake. He was 27!
Most people here just laughed and thought “you play the game, you pay the price”

Eh. I see it both ways. Sure it seems foolish and we can all poke fun since it ended bad. But I feel genuine sorrow and remorse for any man who hasn't competed with his body/health/life on the line at least a few times in his youth. There are few thrills to match it. It's a great experience to test your limits in such a way no matter what all the play-it-safers say.

That poor 27 year old probably never did such in his youth like he was supposed to and its no surprise that he was ran down and gored when he was over the hill/way too old to be engaged in such activity. I would wager he was sheltered, hence the pathetic mom crying out for her baby.

If it's not clear already, I wish I would've ran with the bulls as a youngster. Now that I'm 33....nah, wouldn't try it. Odds are against me lol. Not to say I never ran though...my bulls wore blue uniforms and carried tasers and guns lol.
