Definitely not a trout, or any salmonid. Salmonids have an adipose fin, which is a tiny little dorsal fin near the tail. Other groups (e.g. catfishes and characins) also have adipose fins

Btw this pic is a rainbow trout

Definately not any type of trout (note the lack of an adipose fin all salmonids have this) as to what type of fish it is i have no clue im not to great at identifing natives but my geuss would be some sort of chub or dace.

+1 for dace...I'm a hardcore fly fisherman and they don't look like trout but I'm no expert. If they were found in slightly dirty water, above temps then my guess would not be in the trout family. Clean water is a must for them to survive combined with cool temps.

Do not return these fish, it is illegal and not healthy for the environment.

There's your list of possibilities, it is without a doubt a species of dace.

well on that note im not allowed to use them as bait
and i cant put them back
and i cant feed em to my osacrs so
i will euthenize them as nature intended
as they will get to big and are boring anyway...i wanted a mosterfish not trout bait hahaha
cant believe i had them for two weeks and thought they were trout
one thing can be sure they were happier in my tank

they were definetly not in clean water it was gross :WHOA:
i didint do the proper reasearch on the body type of that fish and missed that back fin i saw all the little spots and was blinded by the light
ooops
but it was an experiment and its over:ROFL:
back to my clown knife ,jardini and tsn my real monster fish

I am not sure about the laws there, but as long as wild fish are properly quarantined, they can be returned to the wild with a Florida research permit. They should tell you about this in your training course.

well im going to play it on the safe side till my coarse is over

these guys were found in a puddle after our spring run of turned my river into a creek
so i will have the opertunity to raise these almost every year by the dozens
i sould have just walked the 2-250 feet to the river and let them in there right when i found em
being traped in that watter might have made them sick......but im sure if they were in that puddle when i found em they probably grew up in the puddle.......the run off was gone a long time ago....what little we had this year...
playing it safe on this one...didnt see anything wrong with saving these guys till i found out it was wrong without my liscense....i contaced the local fish authority
and it was my only choice..i had to get rid of em....
sad but true
