How do you really know a fish dies of old age vs. any other cause?

Had my silver arrowana for 10-11 years. It died in June @ 30 inches. Got'em while he/she still had a yolk sack, ~2"s. But I couldn't tell you if COD was from old age. I'd like to hope so though.

I think if I fish lives over like 10 years or close to that and there is no obvious reason for it dying(no appearant disease shown etc.) then it's safe to assume that more than likely it died from old age.

His name was COD, that's a great name!!!
