Raised up reddish-pink bumps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A hospital tank would be ideal, you can treat them with out worring about your bio filter, MB (methylene blue) great stuff for bacterial treatment but is a very broad anti-bacterial and will DMG your bio filter. this why A bath in it, but not in the tank. polygaurd is safe for your tank

Frank any new additions to the tank? Would be worried about parasites or bacterial. I would use a prazi treatement. Kanaplex is good but rather strong antibiotic. I would go with oxytetracycline or tetracycline. Remember it is light sensitive so cover the tank and as it breaks down it will make the tank a dark yellow but it works well.

Completely unrelated can you pm me your e-mail. I have some reptile vet names for you

no it does not do parasite. would need polyguard for all 3.

Are they safe to use TOGETHER at the same time?

I don't like the bath idea, I'd rather just treat the whole tank to be on the safe side since it HAS spread and IDK who else might be carrying it but not showing signs yet, seems like a massive waste NOT to treat everything

Yea I added a few new catfish last week but they are in tip-top condition, no signs of anything , and quarantined 1st. For some reason I was thinking fungal.....are there fungal infections that manifest as raised up reddish-pink bumps that start out as just normal bumps initially? How would you feel about just a basic 3-in-1 treatment for all fungal, parasitic, bacterial? What is tetracycline and oxytetracycline? I never really had issues like this before, I only mainly used Coppersafe or Salt in the past or Melafix/Pimafix, for parasites I always used the combo tablets

polyguard will do that.

fungal is actually a fairly uncommon cause of infection in freshwater, even though we "diagnose" it and treat often for fungal. That being said could be fungal but seems unlikely also your description doesn't quite fit. tetracycline and oxytetracycline are an antibiotic choice.

long as aware they are bio-filter killers. if you have media to restore your bio filters after treatment, and think you do, nuking the tank should not be an issue.

Why not post water parameters like I asked? Some meds are better in higher pH some in lower pH some in hard and some in soft ect, ect. Also good to know there are cats in the tank. Treating the tank is fine a bath and tank treatment is better but let's have those parameters please.
