I'm not sure how long it remains working but I just kept it in the water until I was ready to change it.I. mainly used it as a preventative measure to condition my feeders more or less.I don't recall exactly but I think I added it about three days before backing off and leaving it to take effect.

I thought the medicinal effects of Paragaurd wore off after 24hrs and needed to be re-applied. I personally have never used Paragaurd but that was my understanding.

I added it 4 days in a row, today is the 4th. I have seen improvement on the tank I used w/ the new additions for Ich, but I'm not sure how many days in a ROW am I supposed to, PLUS, you always treat a 2nd time 14 days later for Ich anyway.

Thoughts?

yes, I am treating 2 different tanks, one has Ich, one does not (the original)

I would carry out treatment for at least 14-21 days. You could maybe cut to half strength and dose with heat and salt, that's a mean combo

The manufacturer suggests at least 14 days, so yes. You could cut back dosage and just watch for signs of re-infestation and dose as necessary.

I have heard some evidence that paragaurd can kill even encysted (tomont) stage of ich but jury is still out on that one.

I've used paraguard before but not for a while. It does say to remove the chemical filtration and treat for 14 days when dealing with ich (on the website). I would personally just do water changes regularly as you normally would.

I actually like to crank to 86F(even higher if fish can handle) for 6-12hr intervals and then bring back to 81-82, just the heat can really put a hurt on them, not to mention speeding up life cycle.
