Ram cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice choice with the runmies
Looks great

Thanks. Yeah i'm happy the way it's turned out. I don't usually go for the really titchy stuff because they tend to have short lifespans, but when I researched the rummies it said they are very long lived compared to a lot of the other smaller stuff. They can live for up to 7-8 years if conditions are good. That's a great lifespan for a small fish.

If my rams finally succumb to these growths I could well increase my shoal of rummies, I currently have 6, they're a great active little fish.

I'm also loving the algae. I've been harvesting it every couple of days and throwing it in my 360. My GG loves it!

Lol, in the aquarium store's tank where I will buy my 12 celestial pearl danios tomorrow are 5 large rummynoses. It's like they were a harbinger of this thread, I saw them on Friday.

Nice addition!

Lol, don't tempt fate Nik! My three rams are ok, for now, but as reported earlier two have small growths on them, which aren't improving any, nor getting any worse. There's no downturn in behaviour or feeding, all seems ok, but obviously the growths, innocuous or otherwise, tell me something's not right. At this point I'm putting it down to the sometimes fragile nature of this species given the in breeding that is prevalent. Eventually I think the fish that have the growths will succumb to them!

When they do succumb, no, I won't be going with rams again. Unless I can get some robust WC ones, which I don't think I can where I live. I do like the idea of more rummies, I'm loving these little guys.

Shhhh. They are still alive.

Thanks for clearing that up! Niks comment had me back tracking on my recent posts just to see whether I hadn't inadvertently reported that they'd died!!!! Lol.
