Ran over a toad

like your basement windows... usually they are lower then ground level. 2-3 feet deep surrounded by a metal guard. death traps to a lot of animals. good places to go herping. toads are pretty good at climbing so i think they are able to get out. lots of bugs in them so good places for toads to get food too.

thats how i found my first copper head last year!!!

yeah, thats what i am thinking. probably had some internal injuries. he sure didnt show it while i was awake though. very alert. tough little bugger
