My 55 is cycling and I was wondering which one would be better?

Either 2 Raphael Catfish or 2 Pictus Catfish

They'll be tankmates with a Senegal Bichir and maybe a jack dempsey..
I am kind of leaning towards the raphael cats

Ya i have a similar thread and people are telling me how much they hide until there very comfortable. I have had pictus cats and know they are very active

Depends on the activity level you want. Pictus Cats are very active and swim around a lot. You would probably want more than 2 of them too. They are known to get ich pretty easily, so you would need to keep the temp a bit on the higher side.

Raphael Cats are very sedimentary. They can be kept together, but aren't really schooling. So you can keep just a pair.

Personally, I would go with a Raphael Cat. They would probably be a better choice with your other tank mate selections.

Raphael's hide a lot! I'm not kidding, I see mine every 6 months or so. When I see it I say "well look at that, it's still alive" LOL

I have to agree. I bought one a couple months ago and can count on one hand how many times I've actually SEEN him. I found out he was hiding inside a stump and I took it out the tank. He just find somewhere else to hide. Now he burrows under a piece of driftwood ALL day

i've seen so many videos of the raphael cats out and about! but i'll take your advice and not get one because i don't want a fish that i won't see

I have had a pair of striped Raphael's for yrs they hide all day and are out all night so if u want to see them I suggest moonlights. They would make better tank mates for your stock than a pictus thought do to they are pretty armored.

can you tell me the reason behind why raphael cat would be better tank mates?

Compared to the activity level of your stock, a Raphael Cat is always a nice safe choice. They tend to mind themselves. Pictus Cats are pretty active and can stress a Sen out.
