I was asked to look at this thread and just scanned over the posts.
What can I say. I have been in this business far too long to play any games with customers and product. I've been breeding trimacs more or less consistently since the 1980s.
There have been many variations of trimac circulated over the years.
To answer the question that's come up in this thread, the fish is not hybridized with anything else. It's an unusually colorful trimac, but that's exactly what it is - or all it is.
What would readers think of this fish in photo immediately below?
Not the average looking trimac - right?
I just scanned that photo from a box of old 35 mm photos I have in a closet. I took that picture in 1996 or 1997.
As some of you may know, that was years before flowerhorns were even heard of yet - let alone distributed here or abroad.
I am not comdemning any flowerhorn fans or keepers. There are many stunning looking flowehorn available and I will not hesitate to say so myself!
If those powder blue ones weren't so darned mean, I swear I'd consider keeping one in a home community tank of larger fish.
Last year I bred these fish in below photos. The pictures were taken when they were younger, but these are most likely the parents of the fish that Mike received.
Thanks for emailing me Mike. I hope that you are enjoying your fish.
As a result of your photo sharing, others have contacted me wanting to buy trimacs in hopes that they may get some with the color displayed by your individual.
I'm sorry if some folks gave you a hard time when you were simply sharing pictures of the joy of it.
