What is the rarest bichir in the trade and I heard that there were some bichirs that are illegal in the US, I looked it up but didn't see anything, if anyone knows anything let me know, thanks guys

No, there are no illegal bichirs. As far as rarity goes though, Teugelsi, Retropinnis, Bichir Bichir, Congicus are some of the harder to find ones. Also sp. Dabola. There are also rare location varients, and Lake Turkana Senegal bichirs, they look like normal senegals but get like 24 inch. last time i saw one for sale it was 1500 and 23 inches
Rarity also is in flux because of political and economical reasons in Africa, the reason Lake Turkana senegals are worth so much is that is one hell of a dangerous area to collect fish from. If it becomes safe, then the price will drop.

There are no Illegal polys in the U.S. however it is illegal to own polypterus in hawaii. The rarest polys really depends on the area. The lake turkana polys are pretty much the rarest IMO. Other than those you have the retro, dabola, angsorii, and a couple other. Teugelsi used to be rare but since segrest farms started importing CB from asia you can pretty much go to any LFS and request one. The WC ones however are the rare ones.

Totally forgot about ansorgii, and that's a testament to how rare that is in the US too lol.

yeah lol they've been on the market for like 6 or so months I got one for $40 at a LFS that is supplied by segrest farms.
^ that's the issue in my area, the ONLY lower jaw you'll find locally is endlicheri, and the ONLY uppers would be delhezi, albino senegal and Senegal. Gotta ask around for an LFS that gets supply from seagrest for sure. What size did yours come in at?

IDK if they are F1 because i've heard that people on that side of the world have had CB teugelsi for a while now (2 or so years)
