rare ca/sa cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
peter's right, rare in the wild doesn't mean rare in the hobby and vise versa. also it just depends how much you want to pay. almost anything can be had with money. yeah if i had 30K laying around i could have a plat mundi. some might say beani are rare but tons of vendors are selling them. parrots use to be rare as well as notatus. a year or so ago baby dats were eveywhere. now 7" ones are going for $100+. its all relative

Hrmmmmm... $30k for a platinum barra you say? I think I might have to go spend some time on the rivers and see if I can find me one of those haha... anyone wanna give me $90k up front and they can have the first 6? :P

thanks for the replys, since im in ireland ca/sa cichlids are not so common expect for the normal stuff such as jds, ebjds, oscars, gts, geophagus and many more,in ireland we only get the crap from asia maily, but i have someone who can get fish from s. america and for my 100 us gallons i have ordered some festae this week,i know they are not rare but their is not many who keeps them here so their rare to me,i seen in my lfs a barred midias for a 145euro,and had written very rare on the tank:),

wild true green terrors from rapps, great fish very rare in the hobby but thanks to people like jeff rapps theyre slowly making a comeback, awesome fish

don't go for rare, just go for something uncommon, so at least what you have is not something everyone else seems to have, for example, get some neets, they are not rare, but few keep them

Amphilophus Alfari, very nice green colour. Gets to about 8-10". Both rare and very uncommon.
Paraneetroplus are very nice also.
