Regarding rare species, I never really understood what's the attraction to something just because it's rare. I mean, convicts are literally a dime a dozen, but that's because they're cunning little survivors with great personalities. That's more attractive to me than some flighty fish that's a ticking time-bomb of bloat!

so i have made my mind up,im getting festae,a few small ones to start off with and then pick a pair,i never kept these cichlids,so any tips would be great.

Convicts can be rare or at least unusual... If they have provenance back to a wild population. I keep 4 different typed of "convicts" and each is different than the others and the farm hybrid convicts in the hobby
