is it me, or are they not just a normal darter, like a rainbow darter? we have craploads of them around the central east coast drainages from north carolina up to new york, and as far west as michigan.

Close to being bred in captivity because while they've managed to spawn the fish and get fertilized eggs, they've yet to figure out how to get those fry to eat and grow past the larval stage. All this was mentioned in the article.

I dont think you would want those fish from there in your tank. The OP said Uranium Mine, I think it would give MFK'ers tanks a nice glow, hell who needs T5HO lights!!!

doesnt mean that someone there didnt import some darters, then dump them in a local stream/mine or wherever, darters are cold water fish so its very possible for them to live in other cold water climates.

i know the chances are small, but its still possible, after all, snakeheads are all over virginia and maryland now arent they?
