and back to the original subject... "RARE" is like a box of chocolates... first you only eat the ones you like... then you look around to see what everyone else is eating....

actually if you look, I think the majority of the ones you brought in had the connecting tail band, with the "exception" of some and some with split bars also. I would say those are all real pucher.,

the recent imports, all of them have 7 bars., total

ok im trying to make sense of this. this basically is talking a black mark on the bottom side of the fin, right before the pelvic fins. anybody have pictures of this? is this referring to the "necklace" or belt" in where the stripe wraps around the fish?

Don't get too hung up on it unless it is a defining characteristic of the species, but from the short description, I can't say it is. The long description is what will give the definitive species characteristics.

Sometimes, it's hard to describe, but once you actually keep the fish, you just notice the different... Like Armatus and Tatauia, or Rio Meta and Rio Negro Orino. I have not had a Rio Negro Orino, but have a few Rio Meta, Venezuela, or plain old Orino, and when I saw the Rio Negro Orino, I noticed the different in the facial structure (I wasn't bother with the marking ) You were my witness

If you take a look at all those pix from OddBaller, none of them, whether 7 bars or 6 bars, display the "7" character in the fourth bar... That character only see in IT.

this bar here. and i agree with JL, this is something you dont see in Pulcher
