so what about JL's comment about the backwards "7" bar?OddBaller;4416759;4416759 said:based on color and body shape... ive never been one to look at bars... that is the most variable trait of these fish therefore cannot be soley used as id reff...
that is a interesting theory... i can see some truth to it being that indos have a longer more slender body shape therefore stretching the last bar... but again you cannot base id on a factor that is variable...jcardona1;4416767; said:so what about JL's comment about the backwards "7" bar?
isnt color highly variable? i'd even go as far as to call it volatileOddBaller;4416846;4416846 said:that is a interesting theory... i can see some truth to it being that indos have a longer more slender body shape therefore stretching the last bar... but again you cannot base id on a factor that is variable...
not true... most pulchers from the chao phraya hold color... indos and lower mekong pulchers tend to be more tempermental... yet that is variable as well... as is body shape too!... so whats left??? one needs to know the exact collection point... if you factor all these factors together you can make a very educated guess... instead of just assuming from pictures... imo the factors for indentifying pulchers go in order from least reliable to most but you need them all to truly make a educated guess....jcardona1;4416857; said:isnt color highly variable? i'd even go as far as to call it volatileeven amongst the classic-looking ST, color is very variable. body shape, well i'd say that fish is too young to make a decision based on body shape
