Rare Knifefish! Need Help!

Pepe is correct. Plecos can eat the slimecoat off of the bichirs and the bichirs can develop fungus and other diseases. I don't recommend keeping them together.

Only if you aren't feeding your plecos right. Each person needs to know exactly what it takes to keep their pleco(s) sated and if they do, there is no problem. The only reason they eat slimecoat is because they aren't getting enough food. If you feed enough, you won't have issues.

plecos are bad news for any fish once they get some size. they also eat slim coat off bichirs, gars and other fish of similar nature. this results in dead fish. i have seen it first hand.

as for your thread not sure what you need help with other then stock. one eyed bgks are not that rare, same with the brown bgks. as for stock, get more angels and other non-aggressive cichlids. don't get any more plecos!

I have owned plecos for 10 plus years with all sort of fish from discus to bichirs and I have never once had an issue. Is it possible? Yes. does it happen every time? No. will it happen? You will never know unles you try. You people blow my mind with your concepts...oh well, back to school for me I guess.

ah yes the true expert. alas we finally meet....my pulled out of my ass concept was actually found through trial and error. your "you people" is "retarded". 99% of common plecos it happens. but your the expert....

the old bichir/pleco debate rears its ugly head!

U both make valid points but id have to side with sbuse.

Go S. Vettel #1 rb8

looooool! the discussion goes on. IMO, I would never put a pleco with bichirs. too risky. pleco are too damn ugly to be put with bichirs anyways XD

the expert there thinks that his years of pleco experience is better then my 20 years. in the end what he is trying to say is the same as me saying a royal pleco will not eat any of your drift wood in the tank or your gold nugget will surely solve your algae problem. "you feed your plecos vegetables? how absurd! i would never dream of feeding my plecos things like potatoes, zucchini or squash, never never never...."

but that is just me them/ "you people" we know nothing....
