i did google searches and the like and am finding very little about this aro - does anyone have more information on it?

I've just got to know about this arowana last year, as mention it is very rare.

Ive seen SRs with similar patterns on their cheeks

around 12" the pattern starts forming but in a very slow pace, perhaps a dark tank might help.

SR and Tong yan sometimes develop these pattern on the gill plate, but those are from cross breeding. I've once kept a YellowTail with similar cheek pattern.
