i've got a 6'6" zebco challenger rod and reel spooled w/ about 100yrds of 12lb mono. i'm going to use a barrel swivel about 3' above a 6/0 hook and a 1 1/2oz eggsinker with a split shot for a stop about 16" above the hook.

What type of current will you be fishing in? What kind of bait? Target size of fish?

The only time I use hooks that big is when Im going for big flat heads and blues with large live bait. I would use no more then 3/0.

Other then that every thing sound good but put the sinker above the swivel and then tie the hook to the leader.

current isn't likely to be very strong. bait is going to shrimp, anchovies, shad etc tied to the eye of the hook(i think this'll allow the hook to rotate more easily) i've got 3/0 barbless hooks but they seem to be rather small for cats over 6lbs. my target size is going to be anything above 1lb but i'd love to hook anything over 10lbs.
put the sinker above the swivel and then tie the hook to the leader.
ok, should i use 2 barrel swivels? my original plan was *line-swivel-eggsinker-split shot-hook* i figured that it wouldn't make much of a difference if the split shot slid down the line towards the hook but if the split shot was before the swivel then it might slide away from the hook and then i might have a few feet of line dragging long the bottom under the fish were it could get snagged.

do line egg sinker swivel hook it should work good but you should also try sunfish chunks on a bass hook 1-2' under a big float it catches um all- hes little but ya get the big ones too

infleted worms on is 3/0 hook and with your rig is a constant ctafih catcher.

If not much current no need for that much weight. Use at most 1/2. Also just use the sinker above one swivel. That way when the fish takes the bait he wont feel the resistance of the sinker.

3/0 is plenty big enough.

Dont waste your time trying to tie the bait to the hook. Just thread it like you normally would.

I have caught so good size cats on this rig

that was something like was i was thinking about doing, i've never used circle hooks before so i didn't want to leave the cat to play with the line awhile only to have it gut hooked because the hook couldn't turn enough.
